What is eNPS?

eNPS (Employee Net Promoter Score) is a measure of employee loyalty. It grew out of the classic NPS - instead of asking customers about a product, we ask the team one thing: "how likely are you to recommend us as a place to work?". Answers on a 0-10 scale split people into three groups:

How to calculate eNPS, step by step

1

Count the groups

Count employees who gave 9-10 (promoters), 7-8 (passives) and 0-6 (detractors).

2

Convert to percentages

Divide the number of promoters and detractors by the total responses and multiply by 100.

3

Subtract

Subtract the percentage of detractors from the percentage of promoters. The result is between -100 and +100.

Example: 22 promoters, 10 passives, 6 detractors out of 38 responses โ†’ 58% - 16% = eNPS +42. (Passives are not in the formula but count toward the total.)

How to read the result?

There is no single "norm" - it depends on industry and country. These thresholds are a good reference:

+50 โ€ฆ +100ExcellentThe team is delighted. Rare - nurture it.
+10 โ€ฆ +49GoodSolid, most people are promoters. Worth maintaining.
0 โ€ฆ +9FairNeutral. Clear room for improvement.
โˆ’100 โ€ฆ โˆ’1Needs workMore detractors than promoters. Time to talk to the team.
